Jennifer Johnston has been a Real Estate Broker since 2001, and is a proud resident of Portland’s University Park, living in the house that her mother grew up in.
She understands the power of home and putting down roots. Being a native of the Portland metro area, she received the benefits of learning about great neighborhoods, trends and hot spots. She is a 5 star rated agent on Zillow, Trulia and Yelp and multiple years 5 star award winner with Portland Monthly Magazine and is a recipient of 100 Most Influential Real Estate Agents in Portland award.
Jennifer’s goal is to have synergy with her clients.
She wants you feel like you are house hunting or house selling with a trusted and experienced friend, and that your journey will be stress-free and as agreeable as possible. Jennifer believes in spending quality time with her clients and really getting to know how they love to live, so she can help serve them and find them their new home.
In addition to providing residential real estate services to her clients, Jennifer’s background experiences are artistic and entrepreneurial. She started and ran a restaurant guide for several years after leaving a Program Manager position at NIKE. She developed and organized the International Gourmet Dinner Club, a dinner club which consists of individuals expanding their culinary palette and cooking skills while making new friends who are also passionate about food through monthly theme dinners.
When time allows, Jennifer enjoys spending time with family and friends, listening to music from the 70’s and 80’s and doing something that releases some creative energy. Her paintings have been shown in galleries, commissioned by local collectors and she is a major donor for Cascade Aids Project.
She was recommended by a friend who had great things to say about her. Jennifer is very good at being honest and positive at the same time, while also understanding how to set proper expectations with the client. She checked in with me often without trying to over-pressure me to get our staging and fixing done. I was motivated and relied on her advice on what to change and what to leave alone before putting our house on the market.
Jennifer truly is a professional with a great understanding of this business, and what it takes to make this an easy experience. Throughout the process, she was transparent and clearly communicated to all parties involved. I couldn't have asked for anyone better to hold our hands through the selling of our first home.
I did not know Jennifer Johnston until I saw a flyer from her regarding the Portland neighborhood where my husband and I owned a rental. (We live in a different city.) after seeing the flyer, we contacted Jennifer for additional information. She impressed us with her real estate knowledge, and all of our interactions since then have been excellent—timely, professional, and effective. We were not familiar with the real estate market in Portland and relied on her good judgment. She helped us find local resources for needed repairs and, most importantly, marketed the house successfully. She knew the right price and the likely type of buyer. She was responsive to our expectations, but honest in her appraisals. I can't imagine having found a better match for us. We recommend her to others without hesitation.
I contacted Jennifer after beginning to feel that the original realtor I’d selected in Portland wasn’t taking my interest in a house seriously. I'm SO glad I made the switch! The first thing Jennifer did was arrange a face-to-face meeting to determine exactly what my priorities and means were, and on the first day she started sending me much better listings than I'd been seeing for the last three months out of the other agent.
She's very knowledgeable, she really listens, she thinks creatively, and at least in my case I feel like she understood what I was looking for in a house better than maybe even I did. Plus, she communicates rapidly and well, and she's totally on the ball about alerting her clients to new listings. That said, she's not at all pushy. When I set my heart on a major fixer-upper in a weird section of town - with "great potential" - she gently suggested that I might be biting off more than I could chew. She was totally right I'm in a house that's absolutely perfect for me now, and I owe that to her. She was invaluable all the way through the process, from search to inspection to contractor quotes to closing. Oh, and she got me 10.6% off the asking price in a tight seller's market. That's pretty great!
This is my third home purchase, and by far she's been the best purchasing realtor I've had the pleasure to do business with. I can't recommend her highly enough.
