Going Going, Back Back to Cali Cali

By Marissa Sainz, August 11, 2018

Jeff and I started working together while he was making a big life change.  He had decided to sell the home he had lived in for 3o years, the home he raised his daughter in and move back to Los Angeles.  The logistics of moving out of a home you have lived in for 30 years can be overwhelming.  Luckily Jeff had a lot of support from his family and a lot of help on the ground.

I could feel the love in the home the first time I visited.  Jeff shared memories with me as we walked through the home and discussed what to do to get it ready for sale.  The connection was so strong, I knew this was going to be an emotional process.

The first day the home was on the market I received an email from another realtor about the home.  She let me know that  her aunt and uncle had owned the home in the 1960s.  She shared fond memories of growing up playing in the yard and the neighborhood.  She even let me know that the family dog was buried next to the large tree in the front yard!  It became even more apparent how much love and joy this house has brought to families over the years.

The home had multiple interested parties and offers.  A lot of the interest was from buyers wanting to divide the large lot and build new homes.  The buyers that Jeff decided to accept their offer turned out to be long time Tigard residents that have plans to update the home.  This seems fitting that another family will live in and love the home.

Jeff moved down to LA before the closing of the home.  He shared with me the multiple emotions of leaving Oregon and his beautiful Tigard home.  It is a mix of sadness and excitement and I’m sure nostalgia.  I visited the home one last time yesterday to leave the keys for the new homeowners and a wave of emotion came over me.  Sometimes a home has a real soul and this one seems to touch everyone that shares a story with it, even if it is only for a short time.
